  • Feb. 6: St. Lawrence University senior captain Matt Dodge was recently featured in an article for Ski Racing Magazine.

  • Feb. 5: St. Lawrence University senior Nordic skier Caroline Carpenter continued her outstanding start to the 2012 season on Sunday, logging her second consecutive 11th place finish at the UVM Carnival in Stowe, VT.

  • Kyle Essery put the St. Lawrence men's hockey team in front with a power play goal early in the third period, freshman Tommy Thompson added an insurance goal in the final four minutes and the Saints battled their way out of a 3-0 hole for a 5-3 win at Brown University Saturday night and a sweep of their ECAC road series.

  • Feb. 4: The St. Lawrence University women's hockey team delivered a solid performance in its final regular season game at Appleton Arena on Saturday, defeating Brown University 3-1 on "Senior Day."  Senior Vanessa Emond scored the game-winning goal, while classmate Alley Bero added an assist in the third period.

  • Feb. 4:  The St. Lawrence University swimming and diving team earned a sweep over Utica by the scores of 133-79 (men) and 147-78 (women) on Saturday afternoon.  The Saints celebrated "senior day" as Class of 2012, comprised of Andrew Hayes, Russ Newton, Chasity Barcomb, Brynn Hagen, Molly Lunn and Katie Spakowski, competed in its last home swim meet of the season. 

  • Feb. 4: St. Lawrence University senior Caroline Carpenter and sophomore Eric Lustgarten posted new career-best finishes for the Saints' Nordic ski team on Saturday at the 2012 UVM Carnival in Stowe, VT.  Carpenter was 11th overall in the women's 5k Classic, while Lustgarten was 15th in the men's 10k race.

  • Feb. 4: St. Lawrence University first-year alpine skier Loudon Fruth had his best collegiate finish to date on Saturday in the slalom at the 2012 UVM Carnival in Stowe, VT, leading the men's squad to eighth place overall in the team standings.

  • Feb. 4:  The St. Lawrence University women's basketball team opened the game on a 13-0 run and never looked back, clinching the outright 2011-12 Liberty League regular season title with a 77-37 victory over RIT on Saturday afternoon.  The win is the Saints' 14th in a row, as the team improves to 17-4 and 13-0 in the league.

    St. Lawrence University's women's indoor track team had a quartet of individual champions and a relay title at the 2012 Hamilton College Indoor Invitational on Saturday.

  • Feb. 4: The St. Lawrence University men's basketball team held off a late RIT rally to earn an 80-70 victory in the Burkman Gymnasium on Saturday night.
  • St. Lawrence University's men's indoor track team had a quartet of individual champions at the 2012 Hamilton College Indoor Invitational on Saturday.

  • Feb. 3:  The St. Lawrence University women's basketball team extended its win-streak to 13 games with a 78-60 victory over William Smith in Liberty League action on Friday night.  With the win, the Saints have clinched at least a share of the 2011-12 Liberty League regular season championship, and will win the conference outright with any victory or Vassar loss in the coming weeks. 

  • Feb. 3: Three Saints scored in double-figures as the St. Lawrence University men's basketball team upset Liberty League front-runner Hobart, 65-62, on Friday night in the Burkman Gymnasium.
  • Feb. 3: St. Lawrence University junior forward Kelly Sabatine scored a hat trick and an assist, while sophomore defenseman Dayle Wilkinson added a career-high three assists as the Saints skated past Yale University 6-2 at Appleton Arena on Friday night.

  • Sophomore wing Greg Carey scored on a power-play one-timer 2:25 into overtime to lift St. Lawrence University to a 4-3 ECAC Hockey victory over Yale in New Haven Friday night, snapping a six-game Saint winless streak and giving SLU its first  league win since November 19. 

    Carey, who had two goals in the 3-3 tie with Yale in Canton in January, did it again Friday and now has six goals and nine points in seven games against the Elis. His overtime winner, his first game winner of the season, gave the Saints two points out of a game in which they worked hard to build a lead only to see Yale come back to tie it in the third.

    "Getting the win is huge," said Saint associate head coach Mike Hurlbut. "We played our best game in quite some time and coming away with less than two points would have been disappointing. This is one we can build on and get a roll going at the right time of the year.

    Carey scored the game winner after Yale's Antoine Laganiere was called for a board at 2:09 of the overtime. Kyle Flanagan won the faceoff in the Yale zone, the puck went back to George Hughes at the point and Hughes relayed it back to Flanagan, who hit Carey at the bottom of the faceoff circle and Carey's one-timer whistled past Yale goalie Nic Maricic to end it.

    SLU improves to 9-15-3 overall and 5-9-1 in league play and snapped a bunch of streaks with the win, including a 0-7-1 mark in league play since their 4-3 win over Harvard in November. Yale is now 9-11-2, 6-8-1 in league play

  • Feb. 3: St. Lawrence junior alpine skier Ashley-Kate Durham became the first woman in University history to win an EISA Carnival event on Friday, as she claimed the Giant Slalom race at the 2012 UVM Carnival at Mount Mansfield in Stowe, VT.

  • Feb. 2: St. Lawrence University first-year student Carmen MacDonald was named ECAC Hockey's Goaltender of the Month on Thursday after posting an outstanding month of January.

  • Jan. 31:  The St. Lawrence University men's basketball team held on for a 56-53 victory over Clarkson University in Liberty League action on Tuesday night. 

  • Jan. 31:  First-year students Adriana Spicer and Kara McDuffee recorded 12 points apiece to lead the St. Lawrence University women's basketball team to a 65-54 victory over Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY.

  • Union College received points from a dozen different players and two goals from Massena native Match Hatch, continuing its domination of the North Country teams with a 6-0 win over St. Lawrence in an ECAC Hockey game Saturday night.

  • Jan. 28: The St. Lawrence University men's and women's alpine ski teams competed in the slalom races at the 2012 UNH Carnival at Attitash Mountain in Bartlett, NH one day after having the GS canceled due to unsafe conditions.  Sophomore Caroline Barry led the Saints with a 19th place finish, her second top-20 finish of the season.

    Jan. 28: St. Lawrence University sophomore Rylee Smith had a five-point game including a hat trick in the second period, while linemates Karell Emard and Kelly Sabatine each added a goal as the women's hockey team scored a 6-0 victory over Colgate University on Saturday afternoon at Appleton Arena.

  • Jan. 28: The St. Lawrence University women's swimming and diving team split in a tri-meet against Hartwick and Oneonta in Oneonta, NY. The women, now 6-2, fell to the Hawks,136-90, but defeated the Red Dragons by the score of 123-118. In men's competition, the Saints (0-8) suffered losses to both Hartwick (166-55) and Oneonta (173-64).

  • Jan. 28:  The St. Lawrence University men's basketball team broke open the game with a 9-0 run over a four-minute span midway through the second half and went on to defeat Bard College, 70-57, in a Liberty League contest on Saturday evening.
