Lindsey Taylor ’08, Rutland, VT, spends fall at the back of
the field and the rest of the year at the front of the pack. Lindsey
is a two-sport collegiate athlete and while the combination of field
hockey and track and field is not that unusual, the
combination of goaltender and sprinter is a little different. She
spends the field hockey season in the vicinity of the goal, using
her speed to kick out opposing shots. During indoor and outdoor track
seasons, she sheds her bulky goalie pads and runs races from 55 meters
to 800 meters.
The starting goalie for the field hockey team, she had the
top times in the 55, 200, 400 and 500 indoors and in the
800 outdoors last season. She ran the anchor leg on the Liberty
League record setting 4x200 meter relay indoors and was third in
the 400 in the New York State Collegiate Track Conference championships.
She earned All Liberty League honors in the 400 both indoors and
outdoors and was also a Liberty League All Academic team member
in both sports.
A National Honor Society member and All League in field hockey at Rutland
High School, Lindsey is an anthropology major and a Dean’s
List Student. The winner of the Pollock Award as the track team rookie
of the year as a first year student, she plays intramural
broomball, is a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and
of Circle K.
