All America in lacrosse, Mahoney played both lacrosse and football at

the North Country has helped him attract some outstanding student-athletes
to the Saint lacrosse and football programs.
Mahoney, who was a graduate assistant coach at the University at
Albany in football following his graduation, returned to St. Lawrence
as an assistant lacrosse coach under Hall of Fame coach Don Leet,
and took over as head lacrosse coach when Leet retired at the end
of the 1996 season. Mahoney, who also serves as an assistant football
coach, has led his lacrosse teams to consistent success throughout
his career and has coached his teams to three straight Liberty League
tournament appearances.
The lacrosse team has gone 44-16 in the last four seasons including
19-5 in the Liberty League and was unbeaten in league play in the 2004
season. Mahoney, who coached the North-South All Star game in 2000,
