Kalie Dunn ’08, Yarmouth, ME can’t wait for lots of
snow. Dunn was the 2005 Rookie of the Year for the St. Lawrence women’s
Nordic ski team and capped an excellent first year by being
named the winner of the Ronald C. Hoffmann First Year Scholar-Athlete
Award for the entire Saint athletic department. She has spent October
and a good part of November on roller skis, and is looking forward
to a big year on snow.
Dunn was an all-state Nordic skier in both
her junior and senior seasons at Yarmouth High School and earned
the Portland Press Herald 2004 MVP Award. She also earned all-state
honorable mention in cross country in 2002. She was a member of National
Honor Society and participated in varsity soccer and lacrosse.
A strong
skier in the freestyle Nordic discipline, Kalie had four top-30 finishes
against the best collegiate skiers in the nation as a first-year
competitor and will be a strong contender to make the NCAA championships
as a sophomore. She will actually start the year by skiing in the
U.S. Nationals at Park City, UT January 3-10 and then begin collegiate
competition at the Colby College Carnival in late January. She will
be a key contributor for a Saint women’s
Nordic team which is among the top echelon of teams in the Eastern
Intercollegiate Ski Association.
Her goal as a sophomore is another trip west to end the season at the
NCAA Championships in Denver.
