Sophomore Amin Danai, Amherst, MA, keeps improving. Amin, a three-sport athlete at Amherst High School, is concentrating on tennis at St. Lawrence and was named the men’s tennis Most Improved Player in his rookie season. One of the top student-athletes on the team, Amin has earned Dean’s List honors in three consecutive semesters in addition to contributing to a team which is making a steady rise through the Northeast Division III collegiate rankings. During his sophomore fall semester, he studied on St. Lawrence’s unique Adirondack Semester.

An honor roll student in high school, he was on the golf and swim teams in addition to playing tennis and was captain of the swim and tennis teams as a senior.

Amin’s win at number six singles in the 2005 Liberty League tennis tournament against Union clinched a 4-3 win for the Saints and gave them third place in the tournament. He finished his first season of intercollegiate competition with a 7-12 record overall, playing both singles and doubles.

As a sophomore, he earned Liberty League All Academic status and has been a contributor to the Saint team in both doubles and singles. He and teammate Matt Slatterly joined to make the finals of the “B” doubles in the Saint Icebreaker tournament to kick off the spring 2006 season.
