The first New York State Women’s Collegiate Athletic Association
golf champion and the 2004-05 NYSWCAA Golfer of the Year, Meghan
Clement’s spring season can be pretty hectic.
Clement is
a member of both the Saint golf and women’s lacrosse teams
and manages to juggle academics, practices, golf matches, lacrosse
games and be a contributing member of Delta Delta Delta sorority
from March through May. Thanks to the cooperation between her coaches, Mary Lawrence in
golf and Jodi Axtell in lacrosse, Meghan has been able to
star for both teams
The fine arts major has played lacrosse on Friday afternoon
and hit the links Saturday and Sunday on some spring weekends, but
has had to miss just one game a year in lacrosse in her first three
seasons due to schedule conflicts. She has consistently been among
the Saint scoring leaders in lacrosse and was the third-leading scorer
last season with 15 goals and 15 assists. She enters her senior season
with 37 goals and 80 points in 45 career games. On the golf course,
she has been the Saints’ ace in each of her first three seasons
and helped the team to its first NCAA appearance as a first year student.
The team was eighth and Meghan was 18th in the NCAAs that year, and
the 2005-06 Saint team is favored to make another NCAA appearance this
coming spring.
