Head Riding Coach

Mary Drueding enters her 13th season as St. Lawrence University's director of riding and equestrian coach, and has returned the Saint program to prominence in regional and national competition.

Her teams have finished second in the prestigious Tournament of Champions during her coaching tenure and have challenged for regional top point honors as well. The 2007-08 and 2008-09 teams were both region high point teams and her 2007-08 team was her second to win Reserve National Championship honors.

The former coach at Colby-Sawyer College in New Hampshire where she won the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association national championship in 1989 and 1994, she has been owner and head instructor of Seery Hill in Andover, NH, a full-service equine facility. A graduate of Colby-Sawyer, Mary was the 1990 winner of the Trainer of the Year Award from the Vermont Horse Show Association. As a trainer she has qualified riders in a number of competitions.

Since taking over the riding program at St. Lawrence, she guided the Saints the reserve national championship in 2001 and 2008 as well as regional and zone prominence. Drueding has produced ten individual national champions in 12 years and has coached students to wins in New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusets, Bay State medal finals as well as qualifiying riders for the New England Equitation Finals, USAE Pony finals and many state and zone year end awards in both the hunters and equitation.
