First Team To Win an NCAA Tournament Game

The first St. Lawrence team to win a NCAA tournament game, the 1955-56 team went 18-5-0 for the season and finished third in the tournament with a 6-2 win over Boston College after sustaining a close, 2-1 loss to Michigan in the semifinals. Goaltender Sarge Whittier was named to the second-team All Tournament Team, joining Joe McLean and  defenseman Bill Renner. Forward Ed Zifcak and defenseman Bill Lundberg were named All America from the 1955-56 team.
