Laurie Grover Humbert '88
Laurie Grover Humbert was a four-year member of the Nordic Ski Team, competing in the NCAA Championships as a senior and was one of the founders of the Cross Country Running Club which grew to become St. Lawrence's nationally-ranked women's cross country team. She went on to compete in the Olympics in the biathlon in the 1994 Winter Games in
A cum laude graduate with a double major in psychology and education, Laurie was captain of the Nordic team as both a junior and senior. She qualified for the NCAA championships and raced in both the individual and relay events, helping the Saint team to a combined ninth place finish overall, one of its best since the 1950s. She was 11th in the EISA Championships in the individual cross country and was a consistent top 15 finisher during the Carnival season to earn her NCAA spot.
Following graduation, she competed on the US National Team, the World Cup Team and the Olympic Team as a biathlete, earning spots on those teams just four years after taking up the sport. She also competed on the International Military Biathlon Team from 1990-94.
An investment analyst for Madison Capital Management in Salt Lake City, UT, Laurie is a Nordic ski coach and has attained Level III status. She is the founder of the Utah Nordic Alliance Junior Ski Program and the Utah Alliance Master's Ski
