2009 Liberty League Squash Championships

VASSAR, ROCHESTER WIN LIBERTY LEAGUE TITLES

The Vassar College women and the University of Rochester men successfully defended their Liberty League Squash Championships, sweeping the competition in the two-day championships at St. Lawrence University's Robie Squash Center Saturday and Sunday.

Jane Parker's Vassar women, ranked 18th nationally won for the second straight year, beating host St. Lawrence 8-1 and William Smith 7-2. St. Lawrence finished second, bouncing back from its loss to Vassar to beat William Smith 6-3.

Martin Heath's Rochester powerhouse, ranked 3rd nationally, cruised to its third straight league championship losing just one match in the tournament. The Yellowjackets beat Hobart and Vassar by 9-0 scores and secured the title with an 8-1 win over St. Lawrence, which finished second with a 2-1 record in the tournament. Hobart beat Vassar 9-0 to secure third in the tournament.
