NO. 5 Herons Hold Off Saints in Liberty League Semifinal, 1-0

Nov. 7: An impressive second half by the St. Lawrence University women's soccer team was not enough to overcome nationally-ranked William Smith's 1-0 lead in the first half as the Herons held on to win in the Liberty League semifinal Friday afternoon on Cozzens Field in Geneva, NY.

The Herons, currently fifth in the latest NSCAA/adidas National Coaches Poll and the Liberty League regular season champion, improved to 13-1-3 overall, while the Saints conclude the season with a 10-5-3 record, their best in five years.

Saints Fall to Cortland in Overtime, 2-1

Oct. 31: Cortland's Bridgette DeSantis scored two goals, including the game winner in overtime, to lead the Cortland Red Dragons to a 2-1 win over the St. Lawrence University women's soccer team under the lights in Cortland, NY on Friday night.

The Saints suffered their first out of conference loss of the year to fall 10-4-3 in the regular season, while Cortland improved to 7-6-4 overall.

Saints Earn First Playoff Birth Since 2003; Fall to Skidmore, 2-0

Oct. 26: The St. Lawrence University women's soccer team earned the fourth seed in the Liberty League Tournament on Sunday afternoon despite falling to Skidmore College 2-0 in Liberty League action at Wachenheim Field in Saratoga Springs, NY. It is the first time in five years that the Scarlet and Brown have made it to the tournament.

The Saints, fell to 10-3-3 overall and 3-3-1 in the conference following their second straight loss, while the Thoroughbreds also clinched a playoff berth, earning the third seed, as they improved to 12-5-2 overall and a 4-2-1 Liberty League record. St.

No. 25 Saints Fall to Union 2-1 in Second Loss of Season

Oct. 25: The nationally-ranked St. Lawrence University women's soccer team suffered their second loss of the season on Saturday afternoon as the Union Dutchwomen edged the Saints 2-1 in Liberty League action at College Park in Schenectady, NY.

Union improves to 12-3-1 overall with their fourth straight victory and also claim sole possession of second place in the conference and will be the second seed in the Liberty League tournament with a 5-1-0 mark, while #25 St. Lawrence falls to 10-2-3 and 3-2-1 in the league as the Dutchwomen ended the Saints' five game undefeated streak.

Saints Tie No. 11 Ithaca, 1-1

Oct. 18: A late game goal by nationally-ranked Ithaca College forced the St. Lawrence University women's soccer team into overtime Saturday afternoon at Sandy MacAllaster Field, where the Saints and Bombers played to a 1-1 tie in a critical in-region contest in Canton, NY.

The Saints, who are currently fourth in the region, now stand at a 10-1-3 record, while the Bombers, who are ranked second regionally and 11th in the most recent NSCAA/adidas National Poll, move to a 9-1-1 overall record.

Saints Earn Critical Conference Win, Edge Vassar, 1-0

Oct. 11: The St. Lawrence University women's soccer team extended their unbeaten streak to four and won their tenth game of the season on Saturday afternoon as they defeated Liberty League opponent Vassar College by a margin of 1-0 on Sandy MacAllaster Field. It is the first time the Scarlet and Brown have amassed ten wins in a season since 2003.

The Saints, who now hold a 10-1-2 overall and a 3-1-1 Liberty League mark, move to second place in the conference, while Vassar falls to 8-4-0 and a 3-2-0 conference record.

Van Geldern Earns Seventh Shut Out as Saints Beat RPI 2-0

Oct. 10: The St. Lawrence University women's soccer team enjoyed their ninth win of the season as the Saints shutout the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) 2-0 in Liberty League action on Sandy MacAllaster Field Friday afternoon.

The Saints, now 9-1-2 overall and 2-1-1 in the Liberty League, are currently third in the conference standings behind William Smith and Vassar, while Rensselaer falls to a 5-6-0 mark and suffer their fourth straight conference loss this season as they stand at 0-4-0 in the league.

Saints Handle Nazareth in 3-1 Thriller

Oct. 4: Three members of the junior class scored a goal as the St. Lawrence University women's soccer team handed Nazareth College a 3-1 loss on Saturday afternoon in regional action in Rochester, NY.

St. Lawrence, who was most recently ranked eighth in the NSCAA/adidas Regional Coaches Poll, improves to an 8-1-2 overall record, while the Golden Flyers, who were ranked sixth in the region heading into the contest, fall to 7-4-0.

Scoring for the Saints included junior midfielder Stanzi McGlynn (Montoursville, PA/Montoursville Area H.S.), junior forwards Megan Howard (Shelburne, VT/Champlain Valley Union) and Lauren Annaldo (Hampton, NH/Winnacunnet). Assisting the goals included junior forward Courtney Hendrick (West Newton, MA/Newton North), rookie midfielder Elena Rogers (Naugatuck, CT/Stratton Mountain School), and sophomore back Nicky Hynes (Carleton Place, ONT/The Kent School).

Despite Nazareth outshooting the Scarlet and Brown 13-7, each team had six shots on the other's net. The Saints got up on the scoreboard first after a strong build up on the left side of the field in the 24th minute as the squad gained momentum. Sophomore forward Lizzie Bogosian (Manlius, NY/Loomis Chaffee) served a dangerous ball across the 18 yard box, but no Saint could connect on it. Hendrick got on the end of the ball and laid it off to McGlynn, who struck a low driven ball through traffic, beating Nazareth keeper Hillary Simon just inside the post for a 1-0 edge with 23:12 on the clock.

Townsend Nets Game Winner in 1-0 OT Victory Over Clarkson

Oct. 2: Junior forward Becca Townsend scored her fourth goal of the season and her second game winner to give the St. Lawrence University women's soccer team a 1-0 overtime victory against North Country rival and conference opponent Clarkson on Thursday afternoon at Sandy MacAllaster Field.

The Saints improve to 7-1-2 overall and an even 1-1-1 conference mark, while the Golden Knights fall to 3-7-1 in their third straight Liberty League loss this season.

No. 11 Herons Edge Saints, 1-0

Sept. 27: In their second hard fought battle in less than a day, the St. Lawrence University women's soccer team suffered their first loss of the season Saturday afternoon as nationally-ranked William Smith scored a late game goal to give the Herons a 1-0 edge over the Saints in Liberty League action on Sandy MacAllaster Field.

The Saints fall to 6-1-2 overall and 0-1-1 in the conference, while the No. 11 Herons improve to a 6-1-1 mark and leave their first weekend of Liberty League play undefeated as they stand at 2-0-0.
