Saints Conclude Season With 14-7 Loss to Geneseo

Apr. 24: Despite coming back from an early three-goal deficit and knotting things up at the half, the St. Lawrence University women's lacrosse team was unable to hold off a fiery SUNY Geneseo squad Friday afternoon as the Blue Knights used a ten-goal second half to earn a 14-7 win over the Saints in Geneseo, NY.

Saints Celebrate 19-15 Win Over Clarkson in Final Home Game

Apr. 21: Senior captain Amanda Forbes recorded a game high six goals and rookie Kendall Harty recorded her first collegiate game-winner to help pace the St. Lawrence University women's lacrosse team to a 19-15 win over North Country archrival Clarkson University on Tuesday afternoon in Liberty League action on North Country Field.

Saints End Skid With 13-10 Victory Over Thoroughbreds

Apr. 18: Six members of the St. Lawrence University women's lacrosse team scored on Saturday afternoon, including both members of the senior class, as the Saints used a score of 13-10 to defeat Liberty League opponent Skidmore College to end a five game losing streak and celebrate ‘Senior Day' on North Country Field in Canton, NY.

St. Lawrence improves to a 5-7 overall record and a 2-5 mark in conference play, while Skidmore falls to an even 6-6 and 2-4 in league action.

Sophomore Kim Morse (Peaks Island, ME/Yarmouth Academy) led the Scarlet and Brown's offense for the second straight game, tallying four goals, while senior captain Amanda Forbes (Glens Falls, NY/Glens Falls) and junior captain Mary Jane Sweetland (Hopewell, NJ/Stuart Country Day) each posted three. Junior Katrina Knickerbocker (Clinton Corners, NY/The Gunnery), senior Brittany Misercola (Watertown, NY/Watertown) and rookie Paige Powell (Tuscon, AZ/Wilton) each contributed a goal apiece, while Knickerbocker and Misercola each added an assist. Sophomore Kelsey Redpath (Norwich, VT/Hanover) recorded two helpers and junior Julie Wooters (New Canaan, CT/New Canaan) added an assist as well.

In an evenly played first half that witnessed four ties and just as many lead changes, both teams struggled in transition, with the two squads combining for 29 turnovers in the opening 30 minutes of play. Skidmore got on the scoreboard first, but St. Lawrence responded with two quick goals to earn a 2-1 edge with 22:06 to play.

No. 12 Union Withstands Strong Second Half From Saints, 16-11

Apr. 17: The St. Lawrence University women's lacrosse team powered through a 10-3 deficit at the half and outscored nationally-ranked Union College in the second period, but it was not enough to overcome the seven goal difference as the Saints fell to the Dutchwomen 16-11 Friday afternoon on North Country Field in Liberty League action.

Union, who was most recently ranked 12th in the IWLCA Coaches Poll, improves to 9-2 overall and is still undefeated in conference play, winning five straight contests this season. St. Lawrence falls to 4-7 and a 1-5 mark in the Liberty League.

Midfielder Kim Morse (Peaks Island, ME/Yarmouth Academy) had her best game thus far in her sophomore campaign, recording a game-high six goals and one assist for seven points. She scored on each of her shots on goal in the contest. Senior captain Amanda Forbes (Glens Falls, NY/Glens Falls) and junior Julie Wooters (New Canaan, CT/New Canaan) each put two in the back of the net, while junior Katrina Knickerbocker (Clinton Corners, NY/The Gunnery) also recorded a goal for the Scarlet and Brown. In addition to Morse, Forbes and rookie Nora Langan (Philadelphia, PA/Springside) each added a helper to the Saints' cause.

Rensselaer Drops Saints, 11-5

Apr. 11: The St. Lawrence University women's lacrosse team was held to only five goals as the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Red Hawks avenged last year's double overtime loss to the Saints and defeated the Scarlet and Brown by a score of 11-5 Saturday afternoon in Liberty League action in Troy, NY.

The Red Hawks improve to 6-5 overall and an even 3-3 in the Liberty League, while the Saints, who endured their fourth straight loss, fell to 4-6 and now stand at 1-4 in conference play.

Leading the Saints was junior Julie Wooters (New Canaan, CT/New Canaan) who recorded two goals, one in each half, while sophomores Kelsey Redpath (Norwich, VT/Hanover) and Kim Cooper (Wolfeboro, NH/Brewster Academy) chipped in a goal apiece, as did rookie Liz Fagan (Madison, CT/Loomis Chaffee), who registered her first collegiate goal as a Saint. Rookie Kendall Harty (Norfolk, MA/King Philip) added the Scarlet and Brown's only helper of the contest.

Vassar Edges Saints in Overtime, 17-16

Apr. 10: Two goals on the part of the St. Lawrence University women's lacrosse team in the final minute of regulation forced overtime, but the Vassar Brewers prevailed six minutes later with a victory as the home team edged the Saints 17-16 in Liberty League action on Weinberg Field in Poughkeepsie, NY.

Vassar clinches its first conference win of the season and improves to a 5-6 overall mark and 1-4 in Liberty League play, while St. Lawrence falls to 4-5 and suffers their third league loss and currently stand at 1-3 in the conference.

No. 6 Continentals Top Saints, 14-4

Apr. 4: The St. Lawrence University women's lacrosse team endured their second straight loss Saturday afternoon as the Saints fell to nationally-ranked Hamilton College 14-4 on North Country Field in Canton, NY.

Hamilton, who was most recently ranked sixth in the IWLCA Weekly Coaches Poll, extended their unbeaten Liberty League streak to 24 games with the victory and improves to an 8-1 overall mark and a 4-0 record in conference action, while the Saints fall to an even 4-4 overall and 1-2 in the league.

Saints Fall to #16 William Smith, 16-6

Apr. 3: The St. Lawrence University women's lacrosse team suffered their first conference loss Friday afternoon as nationally-ranked William Smith scored eight goals off free position shots and used a big second half to earn a 16-6 victory over the St. Lawrence University women's lacrosse team in Liberty League action on North Country Field.

The Herons, most recently ranked 16th in the country according to the IWLCA weekly poll, rebounded from a loss earlier in the week to improve to a 6-1 overall mark and an unscathed 3-0 record in conference play.

Saints Snap Yellowjackets' Winning Streak; Defeat Rochester, 15-10

Mar. 28: Eight members of the St. Lawrence University women's lacrosse team scored as the Saints snapped the University of Rochester's three-game winning streak behind a 15-10 victory on Saturday afternoon in Rochester, NY.

St. Lawrence (4-2, 1-0), which trailed 7-5 at the half in their 2009 Liberty League opener, erupted for six straight goals to start the second stanza and take control of the game with an 11-7 lead. Senior captain Amanda Forbes and junior Katrina Knickerbocker led St.

Saints Topple Elmira, 18-3

Mar. 24: Nine members of the St. Lawrence University women's lacrosse team, including two first-year athletes, scored as the Saints defeated Elmira College by a score of 18-3 on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action in Elmira, NY.

St. Lawrence improves to a 3-2 overall mark while Elmira suffers their fourth loss of the season and stand at 1-4.
