Saints End NCAA Bid With Second Round Loss to Amherst, 1-0

Nov. 16: The St. Lawrence University men's soccer team suffered their first loss in five games as they fell to host Amherst College in the second round of the 2008 NCAA Tournament by a score of 1-0 on Hitchcock Field in Amherst, MA Sunday afternoon.

The Saints conclude their season, which included a Liberty League Tournament title, with a 13-7-1 record. Amherst earns their second consecutive "Sweet 16" berth with the win and improve to a 13-3-3 mark.

Saints Win Tournament Title, Earn NCAA Bid with Shutout Over Union

Nov. 8: Rookie Brendan Gorman had the game winning goal and an assist to lead the St. Lawrence University men's soccer team to the Liberty League tournament title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament as the Saints celebrated a 2-0 victory over Union College on Saturday afternoon in Geneva, NY. It is the program's 10th NCAA Tournament appearance in 11 years.

The Saints, who were the third seed in the tournament, improved to 12-6-1 overall with the win, while the fourth-seeded Dutchmen fall to 11-3-4.

Saints Stun Rensselaer in OT; Advance to League Championship Game

Nov. 7: An overtime goal by rookie Sean Scott was all the St. Lawrence University men's soccer team needed as the third-seeded Saints upset nationally-ranked and second seed Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) 1-0 in their Liberty League semifinal match Friday afternoon at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, NY.

The Saints improve to 11-6-1 with the win, while RPI, who was most recently ranked 25th in the NSCAA/adidas National Coaches Poll, falls to 13-5-1.

LaMarca Scores Two in 3-2 Win Over Skidmore

Oct. 26: The St. Lawrence University men's soccer team capped off their regular season with a 3-2 victory over Skidmore College Sunday afternoon on Sandy MacAllaster Field and finished third in the Liberty League, earning them the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament in two weeks.

St. Lawrence earned their tenth win of the season as they improved to 10-6-1 overall and a 4-2-1 conference record, while Skidmore fell to 10-6-2 and a 3-4-0 conference mark.

Saints, Dutchmen Play to 2-2 2OT Tie

Oct. 25: Both the St. Lawrence University and Union College men's soccer teams found themselves not only facing each other, but also a heavy wind and rain storm with the weather coming away as the only winner Saturday afternoon as the Saints and Dutchmen tied 2-2 after 110 minutes of play on Sandy MacAllaster Field.

In the Liberty League contest, the Saints move to a 9-6-1 overall record and a 3-2-1 conference mark, while Union stands at 8-3-2 overall and 2-2-2 in the league.

Seniors Lead Saints to Win Over Southwestern, 2-0

Oct. 18: In their second and final contest in Texas this weekend, the St. Lawrence University men's soccer team used lessons learned from their 5-1 loss to No. 1 Trinity Friday afternoon and their senior class to surge past Southwestern University en route to a 2-0 shutout in San Antonio, TX early Saturday.

The Saints improve to 9-6-0 in the season while Southwestern falls to 6-8-0 with the loss.

Saints Fall to No. 1 Trinity, 5-1

Oct. 17: Three goals in less than five minutes and a hat trick helped the top-ranked Trinity University Tigers defeat the St. Lawrence University men's soccer team 5-1 on Friday evening in an exciting non-region game in San Antonio, TX.

Trinity, the 2007 NCAA Division III runner-up and the number one ranked team in the country, improves to an undefeated 13-0-0, while the Saints fall to 8-6-0 in 2008. The Tigers further their 114-1-4 regular season mark extending back from 2001 with the win.

Dwyer Scores Game Winner as Saints Defeat Vassar, 1-0

Oct. 11: After a tough conference loss to Rensselaer on Friday, the St. Lawrence University men's soccer team rebounded and used a second half goal to put away their third Liberty League win of 2008 en route to a 1-0 victory over Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY, on Saturday afternoon.

The Scarlet and Brown improve to 7-5-0 overall and a 3-0-0 mark in the conference, while the Brewers fall to 6-5-0 and a 1-3-0 record in the league.

Saints Fall to Rensselaer in Liberty League Action, 2-0

Oct. 10: A pair of goals, one in each half, was enough to give the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's soccer team a 2-0 victory over the St. Lawrence University men's soccer team in conference action on Friday afternoon in Troy, NY.

With the win, the Red Hawks improve to 8-2-1 overall, including a perfect 3-0 in Liberty League play. The Saints move to a 7-5-0 overall mark and are 2-2-0 in the conference.

Double Overtime Goal Gives Saints 3-2 Win Over Clarkson

Oct. 4: First year Brendan Gorman scored the game winning goal in double overtime on Saturday to lead the St. Lawrence University men's soccer team to a 3-2 victory over North Country rival Clarkson in Liberty League action on Clarkson Field.

The Saints improve to 7-4-0 overall and 2-1-0 in the conference, while the Golden Knights lose their third straight in-conference game, evening their overall record at 5-5-1 and 0-3-0 in the Liberty League.
