Bryant, Saints Pummel Merchant Marine 41-22 to Win Hoffman Cup

Sept. 26: The St. Lawrence University football team won back the Hoffman Cup on Saturday afternoon with an impressive 41-22 victory over the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Leckonby Stadium in the 2009 Liberty League opener.  The Saints were led by senior co-captains Gerard Bryant, who racked up 12 tackles including three sacks to earn the team's MVP honors, and Connor Hackett, who rushed for 112 yards and two touchdowns.

Turnovers Haunt Saints in 38-16 Loss to Alfred

Sept. 19: St. Lawrence University junior quarterback JP Kearney set a new university record on Saturday with 27 completed passes, as the Laflin, PA native threw for 276 yards and two touchdowns against Alfred University.  However, the Saxons forced six costly St. Lawrence turnovers and, behind a four-touchdown outing by quarterback Tom Secky, defeated the Scarlet and Brown, 38-16.

Baraldi, Defense Lead Saints to 21-17 Win Over Norwich

  

Sept. 12: The St. Lawrence University football team earned its first win of the season on Saturday afternoon with an exciting 21-17 victory over Norwich University at Sabine Field in Northfield, VT.  Junior quarterback Michael Baraldi was 12-for-19 passing for 123 yards and three touchdowns in a winning effort, while the Saints’ defense shut down a potent Cadet running attack in the second half to clinch the win.

No. 10 Ithaca Hands Saints 45-0 Loss in 2009 Season Opener

Sept. 5: The St. Lawrence University football team opened the 2009 season on Saturday afternoon at Leckonby Stadium against nationally-ranked No. 10 Ithaca College.  The Bombers, led by quarterback Brian Grastorf, showed why they are considered the team to beat in the Empire 8 this season as they defeated the Scarlet and Brown in the non-conference tilt, 45-0.

Saints Ready to Welcome Ithaca to Open 2009 Season

Sept. 4: The St. Lawrence University football team, led by a veteran group that includes 30 seniors, is ready to roll into its 2009 schedule on Saturday as the Saints play host to No. 10 Ithaca at Leckonby Stadium.  The Scarlet and Brown will be looking to knock off the Bombers for the first time since 1983, and though it is a tough task, Coach Phelps is confident thanks to what he has seen throughout the preseason.
