Cortland Turns Back Saints, 3-1

Oct. 29: Senior Kayla Chambersscored a pair of first-half goals to lead the nationally 12th-ranked Cortland field hockey team to a 3-1 victory versus 20th-ranked St. Lawrence Wednesday afternoon in frigid, blustery conditions at the SUNY Cortland Stadium Complex. The Red Dragons won their 12th game in a row and improved to 14-1 overall, while the Saints fell to 11-5.

Chambers gave Cortland a 2-0 lead 10 minutes, 24 seconds into the game with her 11th and 12th goals of the season. At the 8:55 mark, she put in her own rebound after St.

Saints Clinch Liberty League Top Seed in Overtime

Oct. 26: It didn't come easy for St. Lawrence University's field hockey team in 2008, but the Saints captured their first-ever outright Liberty League number one seed on Sunday with a 2-1 overtime win at Rochester.

The Saints, 11-4 overall and 6-1 in the Liberty League, will host the 2008 Liberty League Championship Tournament Nov. 7-8 on North Country Field. The Saints and Skidmore tied for the regular season championship, with the Saints drawing the top seed by virtue of a shootout win over Skidmore in their head-to-head regular season meeting.

Saints Top William Smith, Play for Regular Season Title Sunday

Oct. 25: Sophomore Brooke Maloney scored her fifth goal of the season 11:13 into overtime to lift St. Lawrence University's field hockey team to a 3-2 win at William Smith Saturday afternoon and setting up a game for the Liberty League regular season championship at Rochester on Sunday.

St. Lawrence, ranked third in the region, takes a 10-4 overall mark and a 5-1 Liberty League record into Sunday's game at Rochester, 11-6, 2-4.

Saints Win 4th Straight, Blank Nazareth 3-0

Oct. 18: St. Lawrence University's field hockey team received another strong game from senior goaltender Emilie Lannamann and classmate Michelle Verrochi scored two goals as the Saints won their fourth straight and completed a weekend road sweep with a 3-0 win at Nazareth on Saturday.

Lannamann, who had 16 saves in a double overtime win over Geneseo on Friday, made seven saves and recorded her fourth shutout of the season as the Saints improved to 9-4 on the season.

Saints Tip Geneseo in Double Overtime

Oct. 17: Joss Elyse Smith scored 7:12 into the second overtime to lift St. Lawrence University's field hockey team to its third straight win Friday afternoon, with a 3-2 win over SUNY Geneseo.

The Saints, now 8-4-0 overall, won on the road for the first time in three games this season and went beyond regulation time for the third time this year.

Stetson's Goal Gives Saints Crucial 1-0 Win Over Rensselaer

Saints Win 2-0 Over Vassar; Tied for First in Conference Standings

Oct. 10: Junior Rachel Burke scored her first goal of the season and classmate co-captain Jennifer Stetson picked up her fourth tally of 2008 and an assist as the St. Lawrence University field hockey team blanked Vassar College 2-0 in Liberty League action on Friday afternoon at North Country Field.

The win moved the Saints (6-4, 3-1) into a three-way tie atop the Liberty League standings with Rensselaer and Skidmore, while Vassar dropped to 3-8 (0-4).

Hamilton Upends Saints in Liberty League Field Hockey

Oct. 4: Junior forward Amy Allen snapped a 1-1 tie with a goal off a penalty corner and Hamilton College went on to a 3-1 Liberty League field hockey win over St. Lawrence, handing the Saints both their first league loss and their first home loss.

Allen one-timed a shot off Erin McNally's penalty corner feed with 9:25 to play in the game to give Hamilton, 3-4 overall and 1-2 in the Liberty League, the 2-1 lead.

Lannamann Stars as Saints Win in Shootout, 4-3

Sept. 27: Senior goaltender Emilie Lannamann made 19 saves through double overtime and then stopped four of five Skidmore College penalty strokes in a shootout to help St. Lawrence University to a 4-3 Liberty League victory over the 16th-ranked Thoroughbreds on Saturday.

Lannamann earned Liberty League Defensive Player of the Week honors for her efforts in the two weekend games and was an honor roll selection by the womensfieldhockey.com web site.

Stetson Lifts Saints Past Union in Overtime

Sept. 26: Junior defender Jen Stetson scored her third goal of the season off a penalty corner with 2:54 gone in overtime to lift St. Lawrence University's field hockey team to a 2-1 Liberty League victory over Union on North Country Field Friday afternoon.

St. Lawrence improved to 4-3 overall and won its Liberty League opener, while Union is now 4-2 overall and 0-2 in the Liberty League with both of its losses coming in overtime.
