Middle States Self Study 2008
--- confidential --
Dear Faculty, Staff, and Students,
The current draft of the 2007-2008 institutional self-study prepared for the Middle States Commission on Higher Education is now ready for your review. Our self-study report attempts to address the questions and guidelines provided by the Middle States Characteristics of Excellence standards in candid and constructive ways for St. Lawrence University. Members of the Steering Committee invite you share your responses to the self-study report at one of the meetings listed below. We are particularly interested in hearing your perspectives on the recommendations made at the end of each chapter.
Once you begin to read the report, you will find that it is a web-based document. Ultimately, almost all of the reports, memos, and other documents we cite as evidence for claims we make about this institution, will be hyperlinked to the text. At this time, a number of documents are still under preparation but you should find the majority of them available for your review.
On October 4-5, St. Lawrence will host John Fry, President of Franklin & Marshall College and Chair of the Middle States evaluation team for St. Lawrence, during his preliminary visit to our campus. President Fry and the entire evaluation team will return to campus February 24-27, 2008. In anticipation of the evaluation team visit, the final draft of the self-study will be sent to the Middle States Commission in late December.
Many faculty and staff colleagues and a number of students contributed to the substance of this self-study and on behalf of the Steering Committee, I sincerely thank them for their investment in this collaborative undertaking.
Regards,
Kim Mooney
Chair, Middle States Steering Committee
