The theme for NYCAS 2006, "The Asian Subject: Negotiating Identity", will focus on identity in Asia. Issues of globalization, westernization, immigration, ethnicity, religion and nationalism, create an exceedingly complex terrain for individuals to negotiate. Far from monolithic, the concept of Asian-ness evades simple categorization.
