Nicky Hinkley ’05 wants to carry her good St. Lawrence experience forward. She’s pursuing a master’s degree in student affairs in higher education at Colorado State University. She also works as a full-time graduate assistant in the office of student involvement and activities at CSU, co-advising the programming board as well as the student senate.

Nicky attributes her decision to work in higher education to her positive college experience and people like Professor Traci Fordham-Hernandez from the department of performance and communication arts, who challenged her to examine every aspect of life, both personal and political. “That sense of self and desire to contribute to my community have stayed with me,” she says. “I hope to be able to pass that on to the students I work with.”  

Looking back, Nicky marks her involvement with Kappa Delta Sigma, writing her senior honors thesis and traveling to Hong Kong and China through the Freeman Foundation’s Asian Studies Initiative as some of the highlights of her time at St. Lawrence.
