Holland Patent, NY, native Liz
Condrey ’06’s art is
a personal reflection of universal themes. She’s glad she decided
to attend a liberal arts college, she says, because St. Lawrence
has given her the well-rounded education that inspires and informs
her creativity.
“I studied in the Adirondack Semester and I’ve
lived since sophomore year at the Women’s
Resource Center,” says
Liz, “two experiences that have shaped me as an artist.” These
experiences are one she may not have had if she had opted for a different
kind of college.
Painting is her favorite medium and she credits Art and Art History faculty
Young Moon and Melissa Schulenberg with having the strongest
influences on her learning—“Young Moon’s class
in mixed media “completely changed my idea of painting.” Liz
also likes the direction of all the arts departments at St. Lawrence,
whose faculty are find new ways every semester to collaborate, thanks
to the completed Phase 1 of a multi-million dollar renovation
and construction project to the arts facilities on campus.
In the not-too-distant future, Liz sees herself following her teachers’ footsteps
to earn an MFA degree.
