As both a photographer and a manager, Matt
Bogosian ’02 brings
to his career many of the skills he honed as an artist, student and athlete at
St. Lawrence.
Bogosian, of Brooklyn, N.Y.,
cites several highlights of his young career: Starting his own creative
consulting company, Bogosian
Creative Inc. in New York City, with the aim of helping
photographers, studios and institutions set up and maintain efficient
cutting-edge digital photography programs; managing a large photography
team of over 20
employees for an advertising / catalog agency;
managing Arnold
Newman’s studio (“It was exciting working with such
a prestigious photographer who has photographed all the greatest
writers, artists, scientists, musicians, actors, and leaders of the
20th century,” he says);
and designing / producing books, magazines, brochures, and catalogs
for the Aperture Foundation,
which was founded by a fellow St. Lawrence alumnus.
A biology and fine
arts double major at St. Lawrence, Bogosian says a wide variety
of experiences prepared him well for life after college: Playing
on a national championship men’s
soccer team, which “taught me to sacrifice for something greater than
myself”; working in the art gallery, which “opened my eyes
to art”; the availability of faculty and staff; living
in the House
of Brotherhood with its diverse population; and working on
a student-run
publication.
“St. Lawrence really does
a good job of giving a well-rounded education,” he says. “I learned
how to communicate on different levels, which is invaluable in any profession.”
