I was recently awarded (2014) a full scholarship to attend a printmaking workshop this summer at the Penland School of Crafts. I will be spending July working at Penland and learning everything about letterpress printing. Last year, I had the wonderful opportunity of studying art in Cortona, Italy. The Cortona program is a comprehensive art and art history program taught by talented faculty from a variety of backgrounds. It was these professors who first encouraged me to apply to Penland!
After Penland, I will be applying to graduate programs to receive my MFA in Printmaking & Book Arts. With this degree, I hope to teach at the undergraduate level and be apart of an academic artist community. I have gotten a taste of teaching this year as a studio assistant and a private art tutor. During my time at St. Lawrence I have taken a variety of classes, but I have focused the majority of my studies on printmaking and book arts. I had an SYE this fall in advanced printmaking processes with Prof. Melissa Schulenberg and I am currently working on a series of three minimalist paintings for the spring SYE show. In my free time I like to make miniature accordian books that contain watercolor illustrations and my favorite quotes.
