
Dr. Robert A. Blewett, Professor of Economics, received his Ph.D. from
Virginia Tech in 1980. His first year employed by St. Lawrence, 1983-84, was
actually spent lecturing at the University of Maiduguri in Nigeria under the
auspices of a Fulbright grant. A member of the African Studies Advisory Board
since 1993, Dr. Blewett has also made faculty development and research trips
to Kenya, Tanzania, and Ghana. His current scholarly work examines the role of
minority middleman networks in less developed countries. In addition to
regularly teaching Development Economics (Economics 336) and African Economies
(African Studies/Economics 236), Dr. Blewett supervises student honors
projects and mentors university fellows examining economic development issues
in sub-Saharan Africa.
