Dr. Joslin presents paper

Dr. Joslin presented a paper entitled “L’entre-deux: naissance du future chez les romancières africaines postcoloniales” at the Northeast Modern Language Association meeting in Rochester, New York on March 17, 2012. In this paper he discussed the trope of childbearing as a particularly feminine form of power and as a potential mode of resistance against postcolonial socio-cultural norms that continue to reproduce and reiterate colonial inequalities in Francophone West Africa. His analysis centered on texts by four women novelists from Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire from the 1980’s and 1990’s.
