Join the "Stop Facebook Stalking" Cause

Language matters. Stalking is not a game or a joke and should not be minimized as such through the rhetoric of "Facebook stalking." Join our Cause on Facebook that targets the Pieces of Flair Application as well as other forms of online condoning of sexual violence and stalking. Stalking is a real, horrifying crime that impacts over 1,000,000 women and 300,000 men in America each year. Although some may use this phrase in jest, many perpetrators use this medium to terrorize their victims without repercussion.

Interested in learning more? Check out our Cause here or view the PowerPoint from Go Beyond here. We encourage you to download, read and sign this letter asking Facebook to remove flair that condones stalking, sexual assault and rape, and other forms of physical violence.

Participate in the V-Day 2009!

The Advocates Program presents the V-Day 2009 College Campaign Production of The Vagina Monologues in February 2009 and A Memory, a Monologue, a Rant and a Prayer in April 2009. Email Katie to find out more information about these two projects and how you can be involved! Check out the poster for TVM here.

Become an Advocate

Advocates are faculty, staff, and student volunteers who serve as a support system for survivors of sexual violence. They are individuals who have gone through the Advocate Training as well as additional training workshops focusing on communication skills, facilitation techniques, and crisis intervention. Interested in joining our Facebook group? Check us out here.

Blog: Inside the Advocates

The Advocates Program has decided to join the electronic world of blogging to welcome you behind the scenes of various students and staff involved with the Advocates at St. Lawrence University. We hope to create a safe space for discussions about sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, stalking, healthy relationships, bystander intervention and prevention of sexually violent crimes. All opinions welcome. Check us out!

Join Male Athletes Against Sexual Violence

Male Athletes Against Sexual Violence (MAASV) are a group of students dedicated to: acknowledging that students of all ages, status, ethnicities and sexual orientation are equal targets and that anyone can fall victim to sexual assault; educating peers around issues of sexual assault, relationship violence, stalking, and gender discrimination; and cultivating an environment where all people feel safe and able to express themselves without fear of sexual violence. In addition, MAASV wishes to establish the male athletes on campus as a safe and responsible group with the moral integrity and courage to speak out against and to protect others from sexual violence.
