Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Special Events:
Day of Unity

Wednesday, October 1st from 11am-1pm in the Student Center
Drop by the Student Center on Wednesday, October 1st to pick up your purple ribbon showing your support for survivors of and advocates working to end dating and domestic violence. Advocates will staff the table from 11-1pm, providing information about dating, or relationship, violence and opportunities for you to join this effort. We are trying to make 1000 paper cranes to make a wish to end dating and domestic violence, according to an ancient Japanese legend. Please stop by the table, pick up a ribbon, make a purple paper crane, and find out how you can make a difference on our campus. Interested in learning more? Contact Erin, our Domestic/Dating Violence Chair. Can't make it Wednesday? The table will be staffed on Thursday and Friday, October 2nd and 3rd as well.

Renewal House Penny Wars
Wednesday, September 24th through Friday, October 10th in the Student Center

SLU Act! and Advocates will be co-sponsoring a penny wars fundraiser that benefits Renewal House, the local agency working against domestic violence in St. Lawrence County. Student organizations, FYPs, and theme houses and greek life will all participate. Each group will have a donation jar for coins. Pennies and other change are worth positive points. However, dollar bills are negative points. Thus, you can sabotage, in a non-violent way, another team by putting dollar bills into their jars. Whichever group earns the most points will win a pizza or ice cream party, whichever they choose. For more information about this event, please contact Courtney Tennant.
