What is the college experience? It's exciting, it's exhausting, it's amazing, and, at times, it can be overwhelming. From the anxieties of your first big exam, to the adjustment period that comes with living in a dorm, being far from home for the first time can be full of ups and downs.
Students often talk about how the Adirondacks are in our backyard, and this connection is captured in the “A Tribute” song which describes St. Lawrence as “Nestling ‘neath the purple shadows of the Adirondack hills; Lies our noble Alma Mater…”.
Picture this: It’s the end of November of your senior year of high school and you already know where you are going to college the next fall. That was what the college application and admission process was like for me during my senior year. But, why did I decide to go Early Decision (ED)?
It’s right before Thanksgiving break and at this point, you’re finally finding your stride here at St. Lawrence. I know you’re starting to feel like you know everything there is to know, and while it’s great that campus is beginning to feel like home, hang tight; we’ve got a lot to learn.
There’s nothing better than walking by a kitchen smelling warm cookies. Something about the scent makes you feel at home. My friends and I love to bake in the kitchens around campus. We have baked everything from birthday cakes to peanut buttercup and cookie dough brownies.

It was almost three years ago when I was packing for college with my mother. It was my last day in Germany, and clothes were scattered all over my bedroom floor.

One of the great things about St. Lawrence University is the fact that there are so many different ways to get involved on campus. With over 140 registered clubs there is something for everyone!
I remember the Penfield High School junior timidly exiting the car after her 3.5-hour trip from Rochester, N.Y. unsure of the “private 4-year Liberal Arts university located in the beautiful St. Lawrence Valley region of Northern New York State” that she just stepped foot on.
There’s no denying it; sports are a hugely popular factor of life here at St. Lawrence.
