Andy Rampersaud '10, mathematics major from The Bronx, N.Y.: a Presidential Diversity Scholarship made his college choice clear.

After visiting the campus as a prospective student, Andy Rampersaud knew St. Lawrence was the right fit for him.  When he was named a Presidential Diversity Scholar, “the choice of which college to attend was clear,” he avows.

“The PDS program has granted me access to resources that have facilitated my growth as a college student and as a productive member of society, and created the opportunity to develop insights into issues concerning both my community and society as a whole,” he says.  “Although it would have been impossible for me to realize this when I was named, now that I am nearing graduation I am beginning to realize the true impact this program has had and will continue to have on my academic  and professional careers.”

Rampersaud is a member of ATO fraternity and was named to Who’s Who. His major may be mathematics, but he also has a strong interest in biology. He hopes to combine the two by enrolling in a Ph.D. program in bioinformatics. “I’d like to conduct research that makes a significant contribution to our ever-growing scientific knowledge,” he says.
