Community Service Scholarship
Dymon Lewis '11
Dymon Lewis '11, English major from Hopewell Junction, N.Y.: a Presidential Diversity Scholarship opened new doors.

When Dymon Lewis learned that she had been chosen for a St. Lawrence Presidential Diversity Scholarship, she says she felt as though she was joining “an elite group of young people.”  She adds that “Being in the program was an opportunity not only to advance my education but also to meet people who, like me, are interested in making the most of their college careers.”

Eventually, Dymon discovered that being a Presidential Diversity Scholar is an honor that is recognized and respected on the St. Lawrence campus, and that “it opens doors.  When I filled out my applications for Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) leadership honorary and for SLU’s semester program of study in London, I knew that being a Presidential Diversity Scholar would help me stand out,” the Habitat for Humanity member and student newspaper writer says.

Clearly, that was the case; she was accepted into ODK and spent a semester in London honing her love of writing, in which she concentrates as an English major.  She is interested in both marketing and publishing and plans to explore both avenues after graduation.
