Andrew N. Le '10, sociology major with minors in Asian studies and Caribbean and Latin American studies, from Renton, Wash.: a Presidential Diversity Scholarship made his dreams come true.
Andrew Le says the St. Lawrence Presidential Diversity Scholarship program “has given me an opportunity to obtain a first-rate education and a chance to accomplish my childhood dreams.” Among those are studying abroad in Trinidad & Tobago and China, which he has done through St. Lawrence’s extensive international program offerings, and playing college football, which he accomplished when he joined St. Lawrence’s Division III Saints. He’s also a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, St. Lawrence’s leadership honorary; student government; and Asian Students Increasing Awareness (ASIA).
But the accomplishment of which he is most proud is being chosen a St. Lawrence Presidential Diversity Scholar. “It meant that my background was indeed valuable and that I could help the St. Lawrence community while also growing as a person myself,” he explains.
After graduating, Le plans on going to graduate school to obtain his Ph.D. in sociology. “I also plan on continuing to promote diversity in any community I am around,” he adds emphatically. |
