St. Lawrence University Scholarships
Each year, St. Lawrence awards tens of millions of dollars in financial aid. Some of this is based
on your family's financial need, and the remainder is based on the strength of your application. Each student can only be awarded one merit scholarship. If a student was to qualify for more than one, the scholarship with the greatest dollar value will be awarded. If a student qualifies for two of the same dollar amount (e.g., Momentum and Presidential Diversity Scholarship) the student will be awarded the scholarship that has more programmatic aspects (e.g., Presidential Diversity Scholarship). The Presidential Achievement Award is not categorized as a merit scholarship and some students will receive both a merit scholarship and the Presidential Achievement Award.
Trustee Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to the top male and top female, first-year (non-transfer) students. The scholarship is based on academic excellence, character and leadership. The amount of the scholarship covers full tuition for up to four years or eight semesters.
Momentum Scholarship
The Momentum Scholarship is awarded to incoming students based on academic and co-curricular achievements, as well character and citizenship. This is a $120,000 scholarship ($30,000 per year) for up to four years or eight semesters.
Sesquicentennial Scholarship
The Sesquicentennial Scholarship is awarded based on academic and co-curricular achievements, as well character and citizenship. Named in honor of St. Lawrence's 150th anniversary, this $80,000 scholarship ($20,000 per year) is awarded to first-year students and transfer students.
University Scholarship
All successful applicants to St. Lawrence are considered for merit scholarships. These scholarships are awarded based on academic and co-curricular achievements, as well character and citizenship. University Scholarships were awarded to first-year students and transfer students and are $60,000 ($15,000 per year).
Presidential Achievement Award
Beginning with the Class of 2015, some students will be selected to receive the Presidential Achievement Award. This award, which varies in amount, is based on achievement of all kinds: academic, co-curricular, etc. The Presidential Achievement Award is not a merit scholarship nor is it based on financial need. Students selected for this award at the time of admission will receive the same amount each year regardless of financial circumstances or academic record provided that the student is making satisfactory academic progress toward the degree. Students receiving tuition benefits or scholarships valued at $30,000 or more are not eligible for Presidential Achievement Awards.
