Week 7
October 10, 2007
Tucker and Zena
We returned from an enjoyable parents weekend and mid-semester break anticipating the remaining half of the semester.
We put finishing touches on our paddles as we attended our last woodworking sessions with Everett. Some paddles are being put to good use on everyday paddles across the lake.
The weekend came quickly after only three days of class and we choose our hikes for Peak Weekend. We were able to take part in a St. Lawrence tradition to put students on all 46 of the high peaks. One group sumitted Mt. Colden by way of the Trip Dike. A challenging rock scramble. Another group climbed Tabletop and Phelps, a long bur rewarding hike. The last group split up and collectively sumitted Wright Algonquin and Iroquois. After a long enjoyable day of hiking we were treated to pizza in Lake Placid. A delicious end to the day.
Sunday was spent relaxing and recuperating only to start our first full week after break.
On Monday we continued our study of Land Use and Change in the Adirondacks as we visited old iron-ore mines and beautiful great camps.
We kicked off our next woodworking session with Michael Frenette and await our final products.
Until next week......
