Weekly Update: Molly and Ashley

We started off this week with an exciting visit from Scott Russell Sanders, the author of the book A Conservationist Manifesto, which we read in Mary's class. We had a nice discussion that ended with an arm wrestle between Silas and Scott. Friday was another interesting day-we got to take a field trip to the Wild Center with Wil and hang with some otters. Upon returning we put school work aside and explored our musical talents, a fitting exploration for Alex's birthday. Len, a local drummer, came to Arcadia and led us in a drum circle and ended the night with a sauna.

The weekend was lazy but productive for all of us, especially for Silas who turned one year older on Saturday. Some people worked on paddles, some tried to hike, some read, and the girls made sock monsters with Rachel. Monday was a relaxed day with Glenn, followed by an exciting visit from President Fox on Tuesday. Leah and Andrew prepared a great meal and then we spent the remaining time with him just talking and telling stories. As we get closer and closer to the end of the semester, we keep thinking about what we are going to do for the practicum, and making the most of the weeks to come.
