Abi Costigan is a St. Lawrence University sophomore planning to major in Conservation Biology and minor in Outdoor Studies. Abi can be found in and around Arcadia practicing what she calls “hard core parkour”. One of her best parkour moves at Arcadia thus far consists of pulling the barge out into the lake and flipping herself into the water head first. The move is something like an attempt at a dive, yet without using her arms. She likes to allow herself to sink to the bottom, closing her eyes, and imagining she is swimming with her favorite mammal, the whale. The whale enthusiast lives out her connection to ocean waters in her daydream of being an 1820’s female pirate. Sometimes her daydream gets the best of her and this is how we find Abi convincing two of her friends at Arcadia to cover their bodies in mud from the bottom of Lake Massawepie and run around frightening their fellow Arcadians. Abi is frequently found reflecting on an enticing book in her sleeping bag under the stars, or writing a letter to her older sister where she pretends to be communicating from the Oregon Trail.
