What comes to mind when you think of the Adirondack Semester? Yurts, canoes, and long mountain hikes may be what we Arcadians are known for, but very few people realize that clothing is an integral part of Adirondack life. Here on Lake Massawepie, we like to look good. As Backwoods Princess and Wild Child, our fashionista identities, we find ourselves uniquely able to share the fabulous functionality of this season’s Arcadian fashions.
Our woodland lifestyle requires a melding of fashion and practicality, meaning that our Arcadian look reflects our day-to-day activities. Great care and forethought goes into every sock and scarf, as each must be hauled across the lake on a barge with the rest of the twelve students’ semester’s supplies. From Carhartts and Waders to bonnets and footie pajamas, we have mastered the fine balance between donning the crucial gear and outrageous couture that keep us sane.
