PREFACE

The Office of Co-Curricular Education and Programming provides comprehensive programs that compliment the University’s academic initiatives and enhance the total educational and living experience of students.  Co-Curricular Education and Programming advances this goal by sponsoring lecture, cultural and entertainment programs; cultivating student leadership opportunities; and developing various activities with nearly 90 diverse student organizations.

This directory lists the student organizations that have registered this semester, and offers contact people, phone numbers, CMR numbers, and email addresses. 

Please note: This directory is updated as of February 12, 2007 however not all organizations register with us. Since contact people for these student groups change, please check with the Student Center Information Desk for updated information.

* A.C.S. (SLU American Chemical Society Student Affiliates) - Educates the general public and especially elementary schools about chemistry with resouces through its affilication with the National organization. Celebrates male and pi day, conducts highway cleanups, and National Chemistry Week.

* African Student Union - Educates the St. Lawrence community about Africa in terms of the people, the history, and the culture.

* Amnesty International - SLU's chapter of the International human rights organization that advocates human rights issues around the world such as trade justice, genocide and AIDS awareness.

* Anthropology Club - An organization through which all interested persons may further explore the study of Anthropology outside the classroom atmosphere, includes the use of films, guest speakers, and field trips.

* Black Student Union - Works toward the unification of black students within their community. Promotes black awareness through cultural activities such as Black History month, lectures, films and other events. Acquires, maintains and enhances the presence of all diverse populations at SLU.

* SLU Buddies - Pairs local children with St. Lawrence students to act as a mentor and friend.

Chess Club - Provides the student body with an opportunity to learn how to play chess, compete in club-sponsored tournaments, meet and play other students. Organizes events such as tournaments and weekly meetings, and provides equipment with which to play. The Chess club promotes healthy and intelectually stimulating form of entertainment and would be another club sport open to male and female students.

* Circle K - A community service organization present at many colleges and universities nationwide. The Circle K at SLU emphasizes leadership and friendship through community service projects and being actively involved in the community. Office: SC 325, x5753.

* Democracy Matters - Raises awareness on campus and in the local community about Campaign Finance Reform, clean elections, and getting private money out of public politics.

Omicron Delta Kappa - ODK is a national leadership honorary that recognizes upperclassman who are successful in academics, athletics, community and campus service, the performing arts, and journalism.  The members of ODK strive to promote leadership on campus.

* Outing Club - The second oldest outing club in the country, SLU's Outing Club has a long standing tradition of providing outdoor activities for the community such as Peak Weekend, Snowbowl Extravaganza, backpacking, canoeing, skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, and x-c skiing.

The SEX EDitorial - Promotes and educates students on safer sexual practices, as well as works toward breaking down the binaries and double standards that exist around sex and sexualities. It is an all encompassing newletter about sex and sexuality.

* Singing Saints - The Saints spread their love of a cappella music to others through concerts on and off campus, including trips to colleges and alumni functions throughout the northeast.
