Dr. Cheryl Stuntz
I received my PhD in sport psychology from the University of Virginia in 2005, and I have been teaching at St. Lawrence University ever since. As an undergraduate student at Bowdoin College, I double-majored in chemistry and psychology and competed on the swimming and water polo teams. After a brief stint working as a laboratory chemist, I followed my life-long interest in sport and physical activity and enrolled in the graduate program in sport psychology at UVA. My research examines social influences on motivation and moral development in sport, and I love to involve students in research projects. At St. Lawrence University, I teach psychology courses in sport psychology, personality psychology, introduction to psychology, and upper-level seminars on social influences on motivation in sport. I also teach a course in the First Year Program with Jodi Canfield examining diverse influences on lifestyle behaviors. My service to the Univeristy includes being a Faculty Athletics Representative, a faculty associate for the Center for Civic Engagement and Leadership, and the faculty advisor to Psi Chi, the psychology honorary.
