Improv Lab
THE IMPROV LAB WILL NOT BE MEETING DURING SPRING 2012.
TIM SAVAGE WILL BE DIRECTING THE WIND ENSEMBLE.
In its fifth year, the popular “Lab,” directed by Tim Savage, provides opportunities for students to individually and collectively develop their interests and skills in a variety of American vernacular musics – jazz, blues, rock, folk, hip-hop, alternative, country, bluegrass, etc. The music we pursue will be open to negotiation and largely student driven. “Ear” playing combined with varying degrees of written notation will be used to best suit the situation. All players and singers welcome. Let’s jam!
Rehearsals: Mondays and Wednesdays, 4:30-6:00 p.m., in the Underground (Noble Center 001). First rehearsal Monday, August 29.
Concert date: Monday, November 14, at 8:00 p.m. in the Underground.
Auditions: At the first rehearsal.
For more information, contact Tim Savage, director.

From the Spring '10 program: One of the great things about music is that it can be shared. The 15 selections on tonight's program are drawn from over 40 that were offered up by all members of our musicians' collective sometime during this spring's semester. During our sessions together, we continue to explore ways to best communicate our musical intentions, and were most fortunate to spend time with Chris Norman and David Greenberg in January and NYC jazzman Jim Snidero in March in Master Class environments. These close encounters have proven instructive and inspiring toward our pursuit of increased meaning, capability, and enjoyment in our personal and collective music-making.
