Interested in a major or minor in Global Studies?

Are you interested in a major or minor in Global Studies?  If so, we are ready for you! Our major offers great flexibility in designing a program that fits your thematic and geographic interests. Take a look at our handy one-page guide to constructing a GS major (see below). For example, if you are interested in exploring connections between the U.S. and Africa, we can help you build your major around that. Or if you have a passion for peace and conflict studies or other thematic areas, we can work with you to pair these interests with a specific geographic focus. If you’d like to know more, just visit our Major/Minor Requirements page (just click on the link at the left) or contact Dr. John Collins, chair of the department.

We also invite you to take a look at our Student Profiles to get a sense of the kinds of work that you can do in Global Studies.  What are our graduates doing right now?

  • teaching at all levels
  • working in embassies
  • coordinating international education programs
  • working to promote fair trade and community empowerment
  • pursuing graduate degrees in a variety of fields, from public policy to communications to English literature
  • living and working in China, Hawaii, here at St. Lawrence, and so many other places!
