Important dates for GS majors (2011-2012)

Global Studies majors should check this calendar regularly for information about important deadlines and events.

  • September 10: Application deadline for Spring 2012 off-campus programs
  • September 18: Weave Bloggers Forum (2:00-4:00 p.m., Sykes Formal Lounge) – open to all who are interested in learning more about the Weave
  • October 1: Students doing Honors SYEs must inform their SYE advisor and the department chair of who their second GS reader and outside reader will be
  • October 24: Fall application deadline for Kahrs Award (junior and senior GS majors may submit proposals)
  • November 5: Fall application deadline for CIIS Travel Research Grants and Travel Enrichment Grants
  • November 11: Dr. Collins will present his new book, Global Palestine, as part of the SLU Faculty Café series (4:00 p.m., Sykes Formal Lounge).  Everyone is welcome! 
  • December 1: Deadline for Fall 2012 India program applications
  • December 8: Global Studies SYE Poster Festival (tentative): all GS seniors doing Fall SYEs are required to present a poster
  • December 20: Deadline for Fall 2012 ISEP program applications
  • February 13: Application deadline for 2012 SLU Fellows Program (for summer faculty-mentored research) and 2012 Tanner Fellowships
  • March 12: Spring application deadline for Kahrs Award (only junior GS majors may submit proposals)
  • March 16: Deadline for submitting Honors SYE full drafts to readers
  • April 5: Spring application deadline for CIIS Travel Research Grants and Travel Enrichment Grants
  • April 29: Global Studies SYE Poster Festival (3:30 p.m., location TBA): all GS seniors doing Spring SYEs and Honors SYEs are required to present a poster
  • April 23: Honors SYE defenses begin (exact dates/times to be determined in consultation with SYE advisor and department chair)
  • June 1: Deadline for submitting final Honors SYE papers (four copies) to Joyce Sheridan for summer binding. Papers submitted after this date won't be bound until the fall.
