At St. Lawrence
I spent the fall of 2008 in SLU's Kenya Program, which was a phenomenally educational and eye-opening experience. Currently, I'm working on a senior honors project with faculty mentor, Dr. Amanda Lavigne. We are investigating the feasibility and comprehensive carbon footprint of converting the University's vehicle fleet to alternate fuel vehicles. Last December, I traveled to Copenhagen along with 3 fellow students and our professor, Dr. Jon Rosales, to attend the COP15 (the UN climate summit). The experience was simultaneously inspirational, overwhelming, and demoralizing. I am hopeful that a more responsible, sustainable future lies ahead, and I intend to help achieve this goal.
One of the reasons I was drawn to St. Lawrence is the proximity to the Adirondack Mountains. The park provides us with countless opportunities to explore the outdoors. In my free time, I love hiking, snowboarding and mountain biking, and generally being outside. I also love reading and scuba diving, though I've never tried the two together!
