Dr. Susan Dodd
Dr. Susan Dodd, who is originally from St. Simons Island, GA, and later Atlanta, joins St. Lawrence as an assistant professor of counseling and human development. Prior to joining the department, Susan spent 10 years as an elementary school counselor in Atlanta, followed by four years as an assistant professor of counselor education and coordinator of the school counseling program at SUNY Plattsburgh. She earned her Ph. D. in Educational Psychology from Georgia State University, has a M.Ed. in School Counseling, a B.A. in Psychology, and a CAS in Educational Administration. Dr. Dodd is currently teaching classes at the graduate level in EDUC, EDAD & EDPS.
Dr. Dodd's most recent research efforts have involved the alignment of school counseling programs with the standards established by the American School Counseling Association (ASCA). She has partnered with three different school districts to help support their counseling departments as they become more student-centered and data-driven, per the ASCA standards. The counselors at one of these schools, Beekmantown High School, continued in their efforts from this early partnership and went on to become the first Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP) in the state of New York. Susan would like to help support other school counseling programs in the North Country in attaining similar achievements.
Susan enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.
