Originally from Troy, NY, Dr. Fitzgerald joined the education department in 2005 as the Coordinator of the Educational Leadership Program and as an assistant professor in education. She is currently teaching courses at the graduate level in educational leadership, multi-culturalism, and constructivism. She is also a supervisor for those students completing their internship in educational leadership.

Alannah's research interests include empowerment issues in educational leadership,women in educational leadership,and multi-cultural education and diversity .

Alannah received her Ph. D. in Human Development and Family Studies from Cornell University, focusing on human service studies and program evaluation. She also holds a B.A. in Education. Alannah enjoys traveling and spending summers at her home in the Berkshire Mountains.
