Former Economics Majors Appointed to Board of Trustees

New University Trustee William J. Crombie '69

Four people have been elected to the St. Lawrence University Board of Trustees and will begin six-year terms on July 1, 2010. All are graduates of the University and two of these four were economics majors.

William J. Crombie '69, of Dallas, Texas, a retired real estate executive who has also served as a member of the Alumni Executive Council at St. Lawrence. He has extensive experience in both commercial real estate, primarily office buildings and shopping centers, as well as single-family residential homebuilding. He earned his University degree in economics and also holds an MBA in finance. Crombie and his wife Jill, also a 1969 St. Lawrence graduate, have served on numerous committees including the National Major Gifts Committee and the Parents Committee. They are parents of a student in the Class of 2011 and a graduate in the Class of 1998.

Having served a previous term on the Board of Trustees and now returning is Cheryl L. Grandfield '73, of Manhattan, N.Y., founder and principal of Grandfield & Dodd LLC, an independently owned registered investment advisor founded in 2001 to provide customized investment counsel services to individuals, families and trusts. Grandfield earned her St. Lawrence degree in economics and English and holds an MBA from Fordham University. She has been active in fund-raising and as a career advisor for the University.
