Beginning my career in the biology department, I came in as a bright eyed, eager freshman working as a lab assistant in the General Biology labs. I can say that this opportunity humbled and taught me a lot about science, the department and my own drive for the biological sciences. After completing General Biology, I knew that I wanted to become a Teaching Assistant and continue my career in the biology department. Working with fellow peers and faculty enriched my experience to not only work with but teach biology to the students.
Outside of academic studies, I became a sister of Kappa Delta Sigma, a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, participated in Thelmo and other extracurricular on campus.

In my junior year, I began to explore the research opportunities through junior year research with Dr. Kari Heckman. I learned valuable lab experiences and developed skills needed to transition into an honors senior project. In the spring semester of my junior year I studied abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark in a biotechnology specific program. Coming back from abroad, I began my honors Senior Year Experience (SYE) where I studied the effects of Bisphenol-A (BPA), an environmental toxin, on immune system development in mouse and Xenopus laevis (frog) models. I was lucky enough to work in two different labs, Dr Kari Heckman's and Dr. Alex Schreiber's, and this has greatly added to the progression and success of my honors project. Following graduation, I will be attending the Tri-Beta National Convention in Durango, CO to present my senior research along with a fellow lab researcher. In Fall of 2010 I will be attending Boston University School of Public Health for a master's graduate program.
