Tsewang Lama `10
At St. Lawrence
I am proud of my Tibetan and Nepali heritage. I attended Red Cross Nordic United World College in Flekke, Norway (04-06). My two years there increased my interest in international politics and made me appreciate my Asian roots. At St. Lawrence, I have been able to pursue both these passions through my through school and extracurricular activities. In 2008, I was given the J. Ansil Ramsay Award by the Government Department to do a project in Asia. I used the funds from that award to document an eight day hike to my village. With the help of the Government, Asian Studies and other departments at St. Lawrence, I was able to help host Peace Brigades International on campus. Through my Government and Asian Studies combined major, I have taken various interesting courses like Gender Issues in Asian Art, Utopian Political Theory etc. It has allowed me to be involved with diverse student organizations to promote Asian culture and international understanding.
