I began my career as an art historian with positions at the Dictionary of Art, London (Area Editor for the Holy Roman Empire---i.e., Central European Renaissance to 18th Century Art) and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.  I have been teaching at St. Lawrence University since 1991, but I also taught at Bates College in the year before I came to Canton.
