Community Based Learning

"Community Based Learning (CBL) combines civic engagement with academic instruction, critical thinking, and reflection in a reciprocal relationship that benefits students, community partners, and faculty. CBL programs involve students in community service that addresses local needs while providing students with the opportunity to engage course materials and ideas both inside and outside the classroom." CBL DATES TO REMEMBER:

Monday, January 21: First Day of Classes
Friday, January 25: CBL Orientation Video Shown in Classroom
Friday, January 25: Placement Preference Online Form or the Profile Form by 4pm
Friday, February 1: Placement Notification Sent to Students via email
February 4-10: Students Attend On Campus Orienation with Community Mentor
Friday, March 1: Submit Student Mileage Reimbursement Online Application by 4pm
Friday, March 1: CBL Student Contract due by 4pm
March 9-17: Spring Break: NO CBL Placements scheduled for these dates. NOTE: Break officially begins at 5pm on Friday, 3/8. Any placement that takes place prior to 5pm students are still scheduled and required to attend.
March 18-24: Mid Semester Evaluation Meeting with Community Mentor/CBL Director
Friday, April 19: Festival of CBL Presentation proposal form due by 12noon
Sunday, April 28: Last Day of CBL Placements
Monday-Sunday, April 29 - May 3: Placement Hours Make Up Week
