SLU's Friends Of Libraries Presents Lecture By Econ Prof Horwitz
The Friends of Owen D. Young and Launders Libraries' Commencement lecture, titled "Is Inequality on the Rise and Are the Poor Getting Poorer?," will be given by St. Lawrence University Dana Professor of Economics Steven G. 'Doonesbury' Creator Trudeau To Speak At St. Lawrence Commencement
Students, faculty, staff and guests at Commencement 2012 will hear remarks from "Doonesbury" creator Garry Trudeau and Skidmore College dance professor Mary DiSanto-Rose '75 at St. Lawrence University's Commencement ceremony, on Sunday, May 20, at 10 a.m. on Creasy Commencement Commons. Both will be awarded honorary degrees at the ceremony.

St. Lawrence University Professor of English Bob Cowser Jr. is the recipient of this year's Owen D. Young Outstanding Faculty Award, as voted by members of the senior class. The award is the only one given to faculty that is chosen by students.

'Morphographica,' Art By Scientists, In Brush Gallery At SLU
Morphographica, a joint art installation by biologist Alex Schreiber and bioarchaeologists Mindy Pitre and Pamela Mayne Correia, will be in the Richard F. Brush Art Gallery from March 19 through June 2. There will be a lecture by the artists on Monday, April 9, at 7 p.m., in Room 123 of the Griffiths Arts Center. All are open to the public, free of charge.

Prof. Cowser Selected For NEH Seminar On Guthrie
Professor of English Bob Cowser has been selected to participate in National Endowment for the Humanitites (NEH) Summer Seminar for Faculty at SUNY Potsdam, on "Woody Guthrie and the American Folk Revival." The seminar takes place from June 5 through 28 and will be led by James Kimball, of SUNY Geneseo's music department.

Managers of the Northstar Café on campus have been awarded the bronze medal in the National Association of College and University Food Services (NACUFS) Loyal E. Horton Dining Awards competition. The award recognizes outstanding performance in the category of Retail Sales - Multiple Concepts/Marketplace for a medium-sized school.

Three honor societies for languages recently held induction ceremonies hosted by the modern languages and literatures department, with a total of 19 students being welcomed into the organizations. As part of the ceremonies, each student read a poem in their chosen language.

Iris Longo '13, of White Plains, NY, has won the Seventh Annual Northern New York Library Network Award for Outstanding Students in NNYLN Member Libraries.
